CAFE announces a new funding partnership for Youth Inspired! Program

Wednesday, August 26, 2020 – The Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions is excited to announce an additional funding opportunity to support the Youth Inspired! Program. RBC Foundation in support of RBC Future Launch will contribute $60,000 to help CAFE extend the program offerings online, increase youth enrollment and organize work experiences at fairs and exhibitions in Canada during the 2021 fair season.

Applications for the second year of the Youth Inspired! Program have launched. Young people in Canada between the ages of 18 to 30 with an interest in the fair industry are welcome to apply, prior experience in the fair industry is not necessary. Through this program, youth will develop career skills to launch their careers including: teamwork, communications, assessing potential, strategic thinking, and career mapping.

“We look forward to welcoming a new group of young people this year. They will join a strong network of young leaders in the fair industry. The support from the RBC Foundation will allow us to offer a top-notch program for youth across Canada", said Christina Franc, CAFE Executive Director.

The young leaders who are accepted into the program will complete the following to earn recognition in the fair industry as Certified CAFE Agents (CCA):

  • Complete custom Youth Inspired! training in a virtual format;

  • Get involved in their community;

  • Complete a work experience at a Canadian fair or exhibition;

  • Host a local outreach activity to share their experience and help youth realize their potential as Future Leaders;

  • Take part in a 6-month group coaching program with Smile Inside Out Consulting;

  • Join the National Future Leaders Team (NFLT), a youth-led project that supports CAFE.

“Whether it’s retraining or starting fresh, it’s clear that the skills needed to excel in today’s workplace are changing,” said Mark Beckles, Senior Director, Youth Strategy and Innovation, RBC. “That’s what RBC Future Launch is all about, and through our partnership with the Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions, we hope to enable young people to identify, articulate and build their skills – and help young Canadians develop them.”
